Egmonder, 29, who was arrested Friday evening in the investigation into the death of Peter Langenberg, is suspected of murder or manslaughter. The Alkmaarder (56) was found lifeless on Easter Sunday in the dunes between Egmond and Bergen. Today, the examining magistrate has ruled that the suspect Egmonder will remain in pre-trial detention longer.
The suspect is still “in all restrictions”, which means that he is only allowed to have contact with his lawyer. The Public Prosecution Service can therefore not share any further information about the case, but announced today that it suspects de Egmonder of an active role in the death of Peter Langenberg from Alkmaar.
The Alkmaarder was found undressed in the dunes on Sunday 17 April. He appeared to have died as a result of a crime, but the cause of death has not (yet) been announced. According to police, Langenberg’s body was found near a “men’s meeting place.”
Residents of Egmond aan Zee inform NH Nieuws that they are not familiar with such a meeting point in the Egmond dune area. According to the police, the site is located three kilometers north of the coastal village, and their investigation would indicate that it is a ‘meeting place for men’.
Investigation Requested
The police investigation has not yet been completed, and just like last week, the Opsporing Verzocht program is paying attention to the case today. “We still have a number of questions that we want to answer, and that is why we are again calling on the public for help tonight,” a police spokesperson told NH Nieuws.
“That includes the finders of the victim’s phone.” The cell phone was dropped off at a bookshop in the coastal village. Last week images were also shown of Langenberg taking the bus to Egmond. So far, 18 tips have been collected.
