Today, for the first time after two years, the starting shot for the half marathon sounded on the beach of Egmond aan Zee. One thing hasn’t changed: the course is tough. The stiff sand and the strong wind always make the ‘half of Egmond’ quite a task. Today was no different. View the highlights here.
At the head of the race, it was the most exciting, especially halfway through. In the women’s race – who started earlier than the men – Andrea Deelstra was ahead for a long time until she was overtaken by Nienke Brinkman, who eventually won the women’s race.
With the men, Sofiane Bouchikhi was the first to cross the line, although he also had to do some catching up.
All in all, about 15,000 people took part in the marathon in Egmond.
