A nice surprise for Rene Merkelbach, composer of the Efteling: he received a gold record on Wednesday. The album Enchanting Efteling Melodies has been streamed no fewer than 40 million times on digital music services.
“It is with great pride that I would like to announce that today I had the honor of receiving a gold record from Efteling,” Merkelbach writes on his Instagram page. “What a wonderful surprise,” he adds.

Enchanting Efteling Melodies is a compilation album of well-known Efteling hits. Rene Merkelbach wrote ten songs on the album. There is also work on the album by Efteling composer Ruud Bos, who died in 2023.
House composer
Rene Merkelbach, a native of Tilburg, composed and produced a lot of new music for Efteling, including De Vliegende Hollander, Joris en de Draak and Raveleijn.
For Merkelbach it is already the tenth time that he has contributed to a gold record. He was also involved in albums by Within Temptation, Anneke van Giersbergen, Krezip, Ayreon, K-otic, Gorefest, and Racoon.
