Efteling bounces back after a bad year and writes black numbers again

The Efteling theme park in Kaatsheuvel is writing black numbers again in 2021, despite the tough corona year. Where a historic loss of 14.5 million euros was recorded in 2020, the amusement park bounced back in 2021. In 2021 Efteling made a profit of 11.4 million euros. The Efteling announced this on Tuesday.

Throughout the past year, there were several periods when the amusement park had to close its doors or when special measures were in force. “Despite all the restrictive measures, we did have a nice high season,” says general manager Fons Jurgens. He also said that the past corona years were dominated by monitoring the continuity of the park and the retention of the staff.

About 3.3 million people visited the park last year, which was 400,000 more than in 2020. Operating income also rose again from 140 million in 2020 to 157.8 million euros last year. In addition to the profit of 11.4 million, there is also enough earned to compensate for the loss for 2020.

Jurgens, the park is once again focusing on the future. “Efteling will be 70 years old in 2022. The new attraction Sirocco and the water playground Archipel have already opened this year. Construction of the Efteling Grand Hotel and a new themed area will also start this year. So plenty to look forward to. .”
