The Eels will release a new record this year. The sequel to 2022’s “Extreme Witchcraft” will be released on June 7th and has the self-referential title “Eels Time!” The first single is the cozy, acoustic “Time”, which has a nostalgic touch and is also reminiscent of the middle work of the eternal singer-songwriter.
“Congratulations on Leap Day!” the band wrote on social media about the announcement on February 29th. “We thought we would use the extra time this extra day brings to let you know about the new EELS album. Yes, you read that right. It’s EELS TIME! That’s even the name of the album. And the opening track is called “Time.”

The first single “Time” is once again a tender rumination on the meaning of life and the merciless passing of time – especially when you are confined to your own home. The track, whose acoustic performance is a far cry from the harsh blues of the songs on “Extreme Witchcraft,” was recorded at the band’s first in-person session post-pandemic, a press release says.
The Eels recently canceled concerts in Germany. New tour dates this year were not initially announced. In December, “Eels So Good: Essential Eels Vol. 2 (2007-2020),” a compilation with highlights of the group’s second phase of work, was released.
