Eelde airport site is working again after a possible ddos attack

The website of Groningen Airport Eelde airport is accessible again after a possible DDoS attack, director Meiltje de Groot confirms today. The site was temporarily unavailable yesterday. A pro-Russian hacker group claimed the attack.

According to De Groot, no critical systems of the airport have been attacked. The problem only occurred on the website. In a DDoS attack, computers send so many requests to a server that it crashes, making a website unreachable. This often happens with devices that have been hijacked with malware.

According to FalconFeeds, a cyber threat intelligence platform, hacker collective Net-Worker Alliance has claimed the DDoS attacks. This pro-Russian group regularly reports its cyber attacks through its own channel on the Telegram messaging service.

De Groot says that a few weeks ago an attempt was made to attack the site of Groningen Airport Eelde, but that the hackers were unsuccessful. Recently, the sites of Maastricht Aachen Airport and umbrella association OV-NL, among others, were flat due to a DDoS attack by another pro-Russian group. That attack would be in retaliation for the decision of the Netherlands to give naval ships to Ukraine.
