Edwin van der Sar is currently in a hospital in Croatia due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Ajax confirms this after reporting by The Telegraph.
The former goalkeeper is on holiday in Croatia. He was taken to a hospital by helicopter and is in intensive care, according to the newspaper.
Via Twitter, Ajax announces that the condition of their recently resigned director is ‘stable’. “Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery. We are thinking of you.”
Tasks laid down
At the end of May, Van der Sar announced that he was stepping down after eleven years on the board. He indicated a need to ‘take a step back, relax and do other things’.
