Edwin van der Sar has given a new update. The former football player and former general manager of Ajax is allowed to leave intensive care, but remains in hospital. “I hope to return home next week,” he writes on social media.
“We want to thank everyone for the kind and supportive messages. Now I would like to focus on the next step in my recovery.” Van der Sar has been back in the Netherlands since Saturday. The former footballer suffered a cerebral hemorrhage during his holiday in Croatia. He was taken to hospital by helicopter and has remained in ICU ever since.
