“Our education is facing major challenges,” says Flemish Minister of Education Ben Weyts (N-VA). “The quality of education has been under pressure for many years and we are facing a shortage of teachers. We have already made some important reforms, but in the long term it would be good to rethink the whole system.”
“The independent Committee of Wise Men that we are now setting up can, starting from a white sheet, develop a blueprint for a modern policy in the field of personnel, professionalization and school organization,” said the Education Minister.
The committee will consist of education experts, school leaders, teachers and HR experts. Van Damme wants to submit a concept by the end of 2023.
