The Ministry of Education has determined that, provisionally, any graduate in one of the careers that give access to the body of secondary school teachers who certify a C1 level of English can teach the English language subject in Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate. Ha also enabled dozens of degrees to cover the shortage of teachers in languages and science subjects.
This is stated in the resolution of the general director of Professorat i Personal de Centers Públics, Dolors Collell, before the lack of teaching staff Available in English, Catalan, Spanish, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Technology and Computer Science.
The problem in some specialties became visible after the Christmas holidays and last February the Ministry recognized that there 400 teaching positions that were difficult to filla figure that has increased and that is causing that in some centers there are students who have been without classes of the subjects referred to for months.
The resolution, which Educació has posted in the Ministry’s regulations section in the middle of the Easter holiday period, recognizes the “need to enable, on an exceptional and provisional basissome degrees to teach specific specialties”.
The text establishes that to access the Vocational Training (FP) teaching specialties, which are technology and computer science, people who present qualified qualifications must pass a test of training.
Accepted degrees
According to the annex that accompanies the resolution and in which the list of qualifications that are enabled appears, they will be able to give classes of Catalan language Graduates from 77 university degrees, 50 undergraduate degrees and 4 higher degrees in dramatic art with degree equivalency.
Among the degrees and careers authorized to teach Catalan they meet the one of drama, linguistics, applied languages, translation and interpretation, journalism, communication, classical studies, humanities and theology.
The Generalitat has also enabled them to give Spanish language graduates in the same disciplines out of a total of 80 degrees, 32 bachelor’s degrees and 4 higher degrees in dramatic art with degree equivalency.
In the case of mathgraduates in more than 70 disciplines, including engineering, architecture and business administration and management, as well as graduates in nautical and maritime transport and those who have an approved foreign architecture degree, may teach the subject.
Graduates in more than thirty engineering fields such as Marine Sciences, Agriculture, Food, Biomedical, Energy and Mining Resources, Air Navigation, Electronics, Public Works or Geology, among others, in addition to those who have a degree in Marine Sciences, they will be able to teach Physics and chemistry in the institutes.
In FPnew qualifications have been enabled to teach classes in Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Equipment, Installation and Maintenance of Fluid Technical Equipment, Electrotechnical Installations, Mechanization and Maintenance of Machines, Office of Construction Projects, Operations and Equipment for Agricultural Production and for Systems and Computer Applications.
In these cases, the Ministry has determined that they can give classes for higher technical and specialists, who must pass a training test.

Only for the Technology specialty, graduates in Design with a major in Interior Design and Audiovisuals have been enabled to teach classes and they will not need to pass any additional tests.
The resolution also indicates that the professors who are in the interim pool and who have accredited one of the qualified qualifications, may request the corresponding specialty in an extraordinary period of consultation and modification of data established between April 11 and 13, for participate in telematic appointments.
