Eduard Pujol is emerging as number three of JxCat to Congress after three years of ostracism

Edward Pujoljournalist and JxCat exporter in Parliamentis outlined as Junts number three for the general elections on July 23, which would mean for him to come out of the ostracism into which he was pushed three years ago, while Pilar Calvo points as number two of the candidacy. According to ‘El Nacional’ and sources have confirmed to EFE jxcatthe formation is willing to completely rehabilitate Eduard Pujol and integrate him into its candidacy for the general elections.

On October 26, 2020, JxCat provisionally suspended him from militancy and forced him to resign his seat in Parliament, after receiving complaints that pointed to an alleged case of sexual harassment, but in June 2021 the party restored him as a militant to the verify that there was no complaint in court.

Pujol, a journalist by profession, was one of the signings that the expresident Carles Puigdemont incorporated his candidacy for the Catalan elections on December 21, 2017 as an independent after having been director of RAC1. He came to hold the position of parliamentary spokesman for JxCat but, after uncovering the complaints, he was no longer part of the party’s lists for the 2021 Catalan elections.

Pujol is now emerging as number three on the JxCat list that will be headed by the now party spokesperson in Congress, Míriam Nogueras. According to JxCat sources consulted by EFE, number two on the list will be the journalist Pilar Calvowhile the fourth place will be occupied by the jurist Josep Pages, both deputies in Congress in this legislature. It will be the management of JxCat that must validate, at its meeting this Friday morning, the list proposal for the general elections. In recent months, Pujol had returned to have a public presence as a presenter, together with Pilar Rahola, of the program “El Fax” on 8TV. Despite the possible reinstatement of him to the lists, the figure of Pujol generates rejection among some sectors of JxCat related to the president, Laura Borràs.
