Edson da Graça and John de Mol relieved: ‘The Floor not a flop!’

Edson da Graça can breathe a sigh of relief. His first major game show The Floor, a production by John de Mol, is not yet a television flop. “What a sleepless night they must have had!”

RTL 4 started on Sunday evening with the new game show The Floor. It is the first time in years that John de Mol is launching one of his formats with the competitor instead of on his own TV channel SBS 6. “He has programmed cabaret there, often watched it moderately, so that already helps”, analyzed Tina Nijkamp already yesterday.

No cream pie

A little bit then: The Floor managed to captivate 816 thousand viewers (14 percent market share) on RTL 4, while Bert Visscher achieved a score of 594 thousand viewers (11 percent) at the competitor. Actually, Tina had expected a million viewers for the game show with presenter Edson da Graça, but according to her this is not bad either.

Tina: “What a sleepless night they will have had. John, Edson, the team, but also the bosses of RTL 4. What does The Floor score? The answer is there. 816 thousand viewers and a market share of 18 percent in 20 to 54 years. Well. That is a score that is just not good enough for cream pie.”

‘It’s not a flop’

The score is just fine, but no more than that, says Tina. “Not one million viewers, John will be disappointed, but it is certainly not a flop. It is ok against Heel Holland Bakt, although I Know Much scored 100 thousand more viewers on Saturday compared to Wie is de Mol. It is an ok score and so next week will be even more exciting.”

After an initial episode, most new TV shows lose viewers. “How much are the viewing figures falling or are they stable and rising?”

André takes gold

The whole of Holland Bakt was by far the big winner on prime time with 2.8 million viewers (48 percent). Immediately afterwards, De Stamhouder held on to 1.3 million viewers (26 percent) on NPO 1

After The Floor, RTL 4 managed to retain only 557 thousand viewers (12 percent) with Renze Klamer’s talk show. Furthermore, Bert Visscher on SBS 6 was most popular at prime time, followed by NPO 3’s De Dangerous Wegen van de Wereld (485 thousand and 10 percent).
