The Detroit Red Wings have been able to stop their series of bankruptcies in the NHL. It was the second win in a row for the Edmonton Oilers.

The Red Wings, with ice hockey runner-up Moritz Seider in their ranks, were able to spectacularly end their negative streak in the NHL after four previous defeats. Detroit won 7:6 (5:1, 0:2, 1:3, 0:0, 1:0) after a penalty shootout against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Red Wings squander a four-goal lead

Defender Seider contributed two assists. The Red Wings took a supposedly reassuring lead in the first third. But then the Flyers turned things around and finally took the game away in the final period. But Detroit quickly had the right answer ready.

Oilers with monster comeback at Madison Square Garden

In the Eastern Conference, Seider and Co. are back within reach of the wildcard spots for the playoffs. The Edmonton Oilers around Leon Draisaitl have also fought their way back there. The Canadians beat the New York Rangers 4:3 (0:1, 0:0, 4:2) at Madison Square Garden thanks to a brilliant final third.

Within just under seven minutes, the Oilers turned 0-1 into 4-1. The Rangers’ rebellion came too late and Draisaitl remained without a point. For the Oilers, who had previously defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-3, it was the second consecutive victory on the trip to the East Coast.
