For the first time in his career, Marco Pasalic was allowed to play a Bundesliga game last Tuesday. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder was substituted on by coach Edin Terzic in the second half.
A special moment for the BVB debutant, even though the game at VfL Wolfsburg ended in a 2-0 defeat.
“I’m incredibly grateful and happy to have made my Bundesliga debut,” Pasalic said BVB club media.
After the native of Karlsruhe switched to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of last year, he experienced a forgettable first season with the Black and Yellows due to several injuries.
In the BVB U23, he only made eight starting eleven appearances in the 2021/2022 season and was initially unable to make his way to the pros due to a syndesmosis ligament injury, among other things.

After things are going much better in his second season in Dortmund and Pasalic can already look back on 13 games this season in the 3rd division, the 22-year-old was called up by BVB coach Edin Terzic for the Bundesliga away game at VfL Wolfsburg for the first time in the matchday squad.
In the 80th minute, the Dortmund line manager brought it on for Salih Özcan when BVB was still hoping for an equaliser.
“He told me to come in, just have fun and cross the players up front and play freely,” reported Pasalic about the brief conversation with coach Terzic, which Pasalic was still having before he was brought on.
“As an attacking player, you go in with the motivation to be able to change the game with one action. In the second team, I often did that and scored my goals. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out this time,” reported the German-Croatian , who nevertheless looked back with pride on his first few minutes in the German football league.
