edel-opitics.de Arena at the Hamburg Towers needs a new sponsor

The edel-optics.de Arena is Hamburg’s third largest hall for concerts and sporting events. But fans will soon have to get used to a new name.

In just a few weeks, the edel-optics.de Arena in the Wilhelmsburg district will lose its original name: at the end of March, the previous sponsor, Edeloptics GmbH, will be leaving. After seven years, the company lets the contract expire.

The specialist portal “Stadionwelt” first reported about it on Friday. The operators of the hall – the InselAkademie Sport- und Trainingszentrum Wilhelmsburg GmbH – and the sponsor could not have agreed on further cooperation. A spokesman for the edel-optics.de Arena confirmed the name change in an interview with t-online, but did not comment on the reasons.

This is the new name of the Hamburg basketball hall

In the future, the edel-optics.de Arena, which has been home to the Bundesliga basketball players from Veolia Towers Hamburg for many years, will be called the Inselpark Arena. But it won’t stay that way for long: the search for a new name sponsor is already underway.

The hall opened in October 2014. According to its own information, it offers space for around 3,400 spectators. In addition to the home games of Veolia Towers Hamburg and the Bundesliga wheelchair basketball team BG Baskets Hamburg, concerts take place there regularly. The multifunctional arena, which was called the Inselparkhalle until 2017, was originally built as an exhibition area for flowers as part of the International Garden Show 2013.
