Eddy Keur receives a verbal blow with the flat hand. The news that he will be one of the stars of the renewed NPO 3FM arouses anger. “What a mockery, he’s worthless!”
Great news for Eddy Keur: he will be included in the programming of the renewed NPO 3FM. After the summer, he will be heard every Friday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. with another channel star at his side, right opposite De Coen & Sander Show. That program used to be heard on 3FM.
“What a mockery!”
Not everyone is excited about Eddy’s arrival. According to publisher Jonathan Ursem, until recently editor-in-chief of Nieuwe Revu, it is even a grave disgrace.
Jonathan can’t believe it. “Eddy Keur is a parody of a radio DJ and everyone falls for it. With its laugh track, fart pillow and silly sound effects, he can’t take the 3FM listeners seriously now. What a mockery. On to the 0 percent market share…”, he sneezes.
mockery
Eddy is put forward by broadcaster PowNed. “Listening numbers will just go up soon. That 0 percent makes no sense ?”, predicts AD editor Thomas Bresser.
Jonathan then: “Yes, it would indeed be very clever to achieve even worse listening figures, even with Eddy Keur behind the controls.”
Thomas: “That’s why I don’t think it’s a mockery, but a smart move. The humor just adds atmosphere. Personally, I think it’s going to resonate with listeners.”
Worthless
One Douwe also disagrees with Jonathan. “The great thing about radio is that you don’t have to listen to it, nobody is forcing you… And taste is subjective, isn’t it. What you think is worthless, someone else may find wonderful (and vice versa).”
Jonathan: “I was equally inclined to go along with that, but in the case of Eddy Keur it is not right; everyone thinks it’s worthless.”
Team player
Media expert Rob Goossens thinks Eddy is a good choice. He sees the radio DJ as ‘the glue that makes a family out of all individual DJs’. “As it was in the station’s heyday.”
“You have to start somewhere. And I think Eddy is a team player enough to at least take the first step in that direction.”
