Telstar has won an away match for the first time since April 28. Zakaria Eddahchouri was the big man tonight with a hat trick. The Velsen residents defeated FC Den Bosch 4-1 in a match that was halted for fifteen minutes shortly before half-time. Referee Michael Eijgelsheim stopped the match because he had heard offensive chants.
Trainer Mike Snoei had changed his team in one place compared to the lost home match against De Graafschap (0-1). Devon Koswal was given a place in the backline, because the unfit Thomas Oude Kotte was missing.
In a mediocre first half, Danzell Gravenberch created the first danger after fifteen minutes. The Telstar striker shot from the edge of the penalty area at Den Bosch’s goal, but keeper Jakub Ojrzysnki saved. Four minutes later, Kacper Kostorz tested Telstar goalkeeper Joey Houweling, but he also stood in the way of a goal.
Temporarily discontinued
In the 38th minute the ball hit the spot when Zakaria Eddahchouri was first held on the edge of the sixteen and then sent to the grass with a sliding by Ricardo-Oliver Henning. When Eddahchouri wanted to take the penalty, referee Michael Eijgelsheim stopped the match.

The reason for the interruption was that, according to the referee from Oirschot, offensive chants had sounded from the stands. People would have shouted “cunt KNVB”. ‘After a break of fifteen minutes, Eddahchouri got behind the ball again and shot convincingly from eleven meters: 0-1.
In the final phase the home team had one more chance. Nick de Groot had escaped the attention of the Telstar defense, but could not get the ball past goalkeeper Houweling convincingly enough.
Eddahchouri again
Seven minutes after halftime, Telstar doubled the score. By chance, the ball ended up at the feet of Eddahchouri, who pushed the ball into the bottom right corner from sixteen meters. His seventh goal of the season for the 23-year-old attacker. Five minutes later it was Tom Overtoom who was allowed to score completely free and left the FC Den Bosch keeper without a chance: 0-3.
Den Bosch came up with an answer in the 61st minute. Substitute Ryan Leijten tried from a distance and was also successful: 1-3. In the 68th minute, the home team was close to the tying goal, but Jarion Vicario was a few centimeters short to slide a cross from the left into the Telstar goal. At the other end, Eddahchouri scored his third of the evening when the keeper failed to control Alex Plat’s shot.
Den Bosch-out
It is striking that the last time Telstar won away from home was also in Den Bosch (0-1). The last time Telstar scored so often was in January when MVV Maastricht defeated 5-3.
Thanks to the win in North Brabant, Telstar surpasses FC Den Bosch in the rankings. The people of Velsen climb to seventeenth place. Next Friday, Telstar will receive a visit from leader Willem II. Of course, the match can be heard live on NH Radio.
