In addition to his current fall album, this year’s record “-” also took first place.
Ed Sheeran’s album has reached the top of the charts for the fifth time. His record AUTUMN VARIATIONS, which was released on September 29th, is currently in first place in the official German album charts. This was achieved not only by his debut album “+” more than ten years ago, but also by his work “-”, which was also released this year.
Sheeran’s current LP is about friendship and love as well as loss and loneliness. “Last fall, I realized that my friends and I were going through a variety of life changes. The heat of the summer was followed by an autumn of upheavals – some things calmed down and consolidated, others came to a head or imploded,” explains the British musician. He thinks that Aaron Dessner, who produced the record’s 13 tracks, “captured the feeling of autumn wonderfully sonically.”
For a special bonus live album from AUTUMN VARIATIONS, the “Shape of You” singer recently surprised 14 fans in their homes and played them each a track from the record. The recordings of the “Fan Living Room Sessions” are also part of the work.
The singer will perform his full-length album at two sold-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London on November 18th and 19th. Sheeran is accompanied by both a band and a string ensemble.
