Ed Sheeran used Eminem’s music to stop his stuttering

Ed Sheeran is very grateful to Eminem, who reportedly “cured” some of Sheeran’s stutter. The British singer explained that his uncle gave him the album The Marshall Mathers LP. That was in 2000 when Ed was just nine years old. At that time he kept repeating the verses and thus fought against his language problem.

The uncle introduced the hip-hop artist as the next Bob Dylan and recommended that Sheeran check it out. “And by getting to know this record — and rapping it over and over again — it cured my stutter,” he said. His family was reportedly unaware of Sheeran’s own methods because he was undergoing intensive speech therapy at the same time.

Ed Sheeran admires Eminem for being down-to-earth

He revealed this during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday (May 10), where he also mentioned that he has become friends with Eminem over the past few years. Speaking of his friendship, he said, “I think it’s different with Eminem because he’s pretty reclusive and doesn’t see or meet that many people. I’ve known him for six years now and we did three songs together, I’ve shared the stage with him twice. He’s a person I can really relate to as he still lives in his hometown and has his natural living environment around him.”

Sheeran is finally back on talk shows after recently winning his plagiarism case. The singer had been sued by composer Ed Townsend’s heirs. The allegation: The 32-year-old allegedly used the Marvin Gaye classic “Let’s Get It On” for his play “Thinking Out Loud”, which Townsend co-wrote. Sheeran has vehemently denied the allegations and even threatened to end his career if found guilty. Thanks to the jury, this statement was never put to the test.
