British pop superstar Ed Sheeran says he wants a funeral at his own estate.
In an interview with the men’s magazine “GQ”, the 32-year-old talked about his plans and said that he had already made initial preparations. There is a hole under a stone in a chapel on his property: “When the day comes that I die, I can go in there.” Sheeran explained that he was already thinking about death at such a young age: “ I’ve had friends die without a will and no one knew what to do.
It’s not the first time that Sheeran has made headlines with the topic. There was already a report last year that the musician wanted to create his own family crypt on his mega-estate in the eastern English county of Suffolk. The grave, approximately two by three meters in size, would be built under a chapel, the British news agency PA reported at the time.
The local authorities granted permission. The reason given was that access through the floor plate of the building should not be viewed as a separate construction project, so there is nothing against it.
