The British singer Ed Sheeran has brought the German rapper reezy on board for a new version of his song “2step”. Ed Sheeran has already re-released the song, which originally appeared on Ed Sheeran’s current album “=”, with several other international artists. Particularly effective with a verse by the Ukrainian pop-rock group Antyila. In which song it says, among other things: “The sirens interrupted our sleep, packed everything that was past in two suitcases, then let’s go!” It doesn’t get quite as dramatic on the version with reezy. Here the native of Frankfurt raps about his great love:
“You were like Weed, we only knew each other briefly / But then I became addicted, and it’s been bearing fruit ever since.”
reezy was up for it “some rap vibes”
The idea that the joint song is primarily about picking up new segments of the German market is quite obvious. A musical reason for the collaboration seems at least difficult to identify. Of course, German rapper reezy is happy about the song they shared. No wonder: Ed Sheeran is the world’s most streamed artist on the platform with over 80 million monthly Spotify streams.
Reezy had this to say about working with Ed Sheeran:
“When Ed Sheeran asked me if I wanted to do the German part on his new single ‘2Step’, of course I didn’t waste my time. I felt like injecting a few rap vibes into the pop vibes because I think that’s where awesome things can come from.”
The current album by Frankfurt cloud rapper reezy LOYALITY OVER LOVE was released on April 29, 2022 and ended up at number one in the album charts. Next fall, the rapper will play the halftime show at the European League of Football finals with Bausa. The game will take place in Klagenfurt on September 25th and will be broadcast live in Germany on Pro7 Maxx.
