In Ecuador, two hundred prisoners were arrested by the army a day after their escape, Ecuadorian police reported. The men had broken out after rioting at a prison about 80 kilometers north of the capital Quito. At least 43 people were killed during the uprising.

Ecuador regularly faces violence in its prisons. Usually, it involves fights between rival gangs. Monday’s riots had also erupted after a battle between gangs.
