A KLM Boeing 777-200 was investigated for hours in the Ecuadorian capital Quito last night because of a bomb threat. This is what the Quito International Airport says in a press statement. After the passengers were evacuated, local authorities used dogs to search for explosives in and around the plane. In the end, the message turned out to be false.
After it became clear that there was no bomb on board, flight KL755 was able to continue to Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city. From there, the aircraft departed for Schiphol Airport with a delay of almost three and a half hours, where it is expected to arrive around 3:45 p.m.
The search was extensively photographed, filmed and shared on social media by the Ecuadorian police.
