Ecuador seizes 2.5 tons of cocaine destined for Belgium | Abroad

The drugs, divided into 2,461 packages, were hidden in a container of bananas that was to be transported from the port of Guayaquil, in western Ecuador, to Belgium. During an inspection, the police found the unwanted contents. She also picked up one person.

Cocaine is one of the main export products of Ecuador, which is mainly a transit point for the white powder. Neighboring countries Colombia and Peru are the largest producers of the drugs.

In 2021, Ecuadorian authorities seized a record 210 tons of drugs, mostly cocaine. Since the beginning of this year, the counter has already stood at more than 70 tons.
