Economic sentiment in the euro zone fell to its lowest level in almost three years in October.
The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) fell by 0.1 points to 93.3 points compared to the previous month, as the European Commission announced in Brussels on Monday. It is the lowest level since November 2020 and the sixth consecutive weakening. Analysts on average had expected a sharper decline to 93.0 points.
The mood deteriorated in industry, retail and among consumers. The mood brightened in the large member states Spain and Germany. In France and Italy, however, the situation deteriorated. (dpa)
