ECB examines consequences for euro countries of exclusion of Russia from SWIFT

The European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Commission will investigate the precise consequences for the euro countries if the EU decides to exclude Russia from the international payment system SWIFT. This is done at the request of the European finance ministers. SWIFT exclusion is one of the sanctions the EU is considering to hit Russia hard financially and economically after the invasion of Ukraine.
