EC final over – Seppo Räty’s comment made me laugh

Kristian Pulli can do better in the long jump EC qualification. The place in the final was still not taken.

– Feeling disappointed. I feel like I could have fought for tough rankings, long jumper Kristian Pulli sighed.

Pulli arrived at the European Championships in Munich half fit. The groin in my right leg has been bothering me since the World Championships in July, so the expectations for the long qualification were not high.

On Monday, the groin surprisingly did not hinder the racing. Pulli’s last effort was 770. It was enough for fourteenth place, as the best 12 advanced to the final.

The Finn missed the next place by four cents, because Norway Ingar Kiplesund made it to the finals with a score of 774.

– It felt surprisingly good, the groin doesn’t bother me much. It felt like anything could have happened. Because of that, there was a lot to be sad about.

Pulli’s Finnish record is 827. This season it has been 880. So a place in the final would have been possible.

The Finn made his last attempt in a fine tailwind. He took the sign briskly back, so that the performance was not overstepped.

However, the step stretched a lot.

– There was a small counter-effort. Then the momentum dies.

The long jump SE man regrets not being braver in the last attempt.

– You should have dared to go all the way. The sign should have been taken at risk. It could have been overstepped or the required result.

Kristian Pulli would have liked to be in the EC final. PASI LEISMA

Pulli’s first jump was well overstepped. He estimates that if allowed, the opening race of the qualification would have been enough for the final.

The second attempt carried 761. The wind was blowing 2.6 meters per second against.

– It would have been quite good as a jump, if I had gotten a small dowry. You can always jostle. Qualifying is a game of centimeters and how to hit the jump. Bad luck now.

– In the legs, I felt that I could have clearly improved.

Pulli also failed to qualify for the 2018 European Championships in Berlin. At that time the result was 768 and the ranking was 16th.

At the interview point, he was asked Seppo Rädyn like, Germany is a shitty country. Pulli was not ready to condemn the entire state.

– This was a small step forward, but it didn’t leave the best taste in the mouth. Maybe the third time will tell, he laughed.

The continuation of Bull’s season is largely determined by health. The condition of the leg will be checked and after that it will be decided whether the SE man will be seen in the match against Sweden in September.

Sweden won the length qualification Thobias Montler with a score of 806. He was the only one to break the qualifying mark of 805.
