Online trading platform Ebay has launched a new program called ‘Certified by Brand’.
With the new program, the digital marketplace wants to expand its range of luxury goods and support designers and luxury brands in expanding their sales of used goods.
‘Certified by Brand’ complements the already established Ebay initiative ‘Authenticity Guarantee’ and offers consumers a platform where they can buy authorised, pre-owned luxury goods.
The new feature allows shoppers to purchase watches, handbags and jewelry from a range of luxury brands directly or through verified sellers.
Brand partners and resellers will also have access to the eBay network’s consumer information and the ability to influence the pricing of their used goods, brand value and image in the eBay channels.
Currently, the program is only available to partners and buyers in the United States. The number of authorized sellers there is to be expanded further in the coming weeks. For the next year, the company plans to expand the offer to other markets.
“Certified inventory in the resale market is an undeniable opportunity for brands and authorized retailers, and eBay is the ideal partner for those looking to expand their offering,” commented Tirath Kamdar, eBay’s Global General Manager of Luxury, in a statement.
