Ebay is cutting almost one in ten jobs

The eBay trading platform is cutting around 1,000 jobs to reduce its costs.

The reduction will affect an estimated nine percent of full-time employees, eBay boss Jamie Iannone wrote in an email to employees published on Tuesday (local time). The reason given was that expenses grew faster than business.

Ebay is in fierce competition with, among others, Amazon and Chinese online retailers such as Temu and Shein. The forecast for the important Christmas quarter was recently weaker than expected on the market. (dpa)
