easyJet stewards and pilots receive a bonus of 1,200 euros | NOW

The cabin crew of easyJet will receive a payment of 1,200 euros at the end of the summer on top of the already existing bonus scheme, the company tells NU.nl on Monday. “We want to recognize the valuable contribution of our staff,” said a spokesperson.

Like many other companies, airlines also have to deal with staff shortages. That is why the British easyJet is trying to bind employees with extra money.

“As we are expected to return to 2019 levels for the first time since the pandemic, we would like to recognize the valuable contribution our cabin crew will make this summer, so we have informed our crew that we will be returning them at the end of the summer season. an extra payment of 1,200 euros,” said a spokesperson.

The payment comes on top of the bonus that easyJet employees receive every year anyway. According to the collective labor agreement, this amounts to two weeks of basic wage. The scheme applies to all cabin crew worldwide, including in the Netherlands.

Chaos at Schiphol due to staff shortages

EasyJet also recently took other measures to respond to the staff shortage. In the UK, the airline is removing six seats from a number of aircraft in order to be able to fly with one less crew member.

Other aviation companies have also suffered from too few crews in recent weeks. During the May holiday, it was chaos at Schiphol for two weekends due to a lack of staff at the airport. Airlines even had to divert flights to other airports. Schiphol has already announced that it will raise wages to attract more staff.
