Easter doll on Friday, everyone is looking forward to it and this is what it looks like

Paaspop traditionally opened the 2022 festival season on Friday. After two years of Easter without Paaspop, everyone is eager to go wild. This year no Easter eggs in your own garden, but hop, into the meadow at Paaspop. Omroep Brabant is there and made a compilation of those partying festival fans.

Seventeen stages, 250 artists, three days of sun and visitors are really looking forward to a party. The festival site is open from three o’clock on Friday afternoon. At the nearby campsite, the first tents are already in full gear, with a nice seat in front of the door where the first beers are opened.

Those who want to enter the festival site must be patient on Friday afternoon, because entering does not happen automatically. At the peak you have to brave a queue of at least an hour for it. But then you have something.

Because once you are on the festival site, you will immediately fall in love with the festival: a party is being held on every corner of the site. Rocking in a bathtub, between the bubbles, karaoke in the middle of the street or dance with the DJ: everything is possible.

For those who are still a bit wary of corona, ‘De Wasman’ offers help: he washes your hands with his mobile sink as you pass. Rosanna from Belgium likes to use it. She is at Paaspop for the first time and immediately thinks it is a great day with this arrival.

Britt (18) and Natasha (17) from Heeswijk-Dinther have just seen Guus Meeuwis in the Apollo. Britt is glad she finally got to see it live. “My mother used to go there, but I wasn’t allowed to go there. Now I have succeeded, that is satisfaction!” And she has been singing along wholeheartedly, Natasha tells us.

Lars and Sophie (from Breda and Tilburg) are at Paaspop for the first time together with Elin, Thijn, Lara, Julia and Iris. The blended family has made it a family outing.

“The tension is not very long at this age, but there is plenty to do here. Also for the children. But it’s cooling down now, so we’re going to eat and then go home,” says Sophie.

Patrick from Doetinchem is having the time of his life in Schijndel. He is a loyal Easter popper and has been traveling south at Easter for years. Last year he struggled with a serious covid infection and recently had knee surgery.

The fact that he’s in a wheelchair now doesn’t stop him. “This is my first festival in years. I really didn’t want to miss Paaspop.” He’s laying low on Friday so he can enjoy AC/NDC in the Thunderbolt on Sunday evening. “I’ll let Chef Special pass me by tonight, I want to be there on Sunday.”

At The Warehouse it is now very busy. A stream of people is queuing for Willy Wartaal. Later in the evening, DJ Paul Elstak follows and even then it is packed.

Nina (20) from Zijtaart and Marloes (21) from Erp call it a day at nine o’clock on Friday evening. “We are going to do a power nap, we peaked too early.” The ladies were already having a drink at the campsite at one o’clock in the afternoon. “In the sun, after all that lugging the camping gear, they tasted too good. And after all those years no Easter doll, we were looking forward to it a bit too much.”

The batteries of the telephones are empty and that also applies to their own battery, says Marloes. So now first take a nap and then on to the afterparty at the campsite. Until six in the morning.
