Supermarket chain Jumbo is calling Easter stollen back to stores. It may contain carcinogenic substances. This concerns the La Place Luxury Small Party Stollen with Amarena Cherry, Pistachio & Hazelnuts of 400 grams.
‘The pistachios in the product were found to contain too high levels of aflatoxin and ochratoxin A, which can be harmful to health in the long term if consumed at high levels. Jumbo asks customers not to consume the La Place Luxe Small Feeststol and to return it to one of its stores,” Jumbo said in a statement.
According to the nutrition center, aflatoxin and ochratoxin A are mold toxins that can occur naturally on grains, nuts and legumes. The Nutrition Center states that regularly taking ochratoxin A can lead to kidney damage and the substance is possibly carcinogenic.
