East side Hoornsediep in Groningen closed for three months for refurbishment

The east side of the Hoornsediep in Groningen will be closed on Monday 29 August for a period of three months between Maaslaan and IJsselstraat.

The closure is necessary for the redevelopment of the Hoornsediep. This includes installing new asphalt, replacing part of the sewerage system and reinforcing the ground. According to contractor Combinatie Herepoort, the milling and application of asphalt can cause noise nuisance.

Cyclists cannot turn left during the work when they come out of the Amalia tunnel. Instead, you can continue cycling – along the canal – and take the temporary bicycle crossing at the IJsselstraat.
