The hospital of the Spanish emergency team in Turkey will begin its activity on Monday in Iskenderun

The START hospital, the Spanish emergency medical team deployed in Turkey to care for the victims of this week’s devastating earthquakes, will begin its activity this coming Monday in the coastal city of Iskenderun, in the southern province of Hatay, the most affected by earthquakes.

The emergency medical center has been built with the participation of 82 START members, including 60 volunteer professionals from Spanish public health, as well as firefighters and logisticians from the Madrid City Council and Summa 112.

The team arrived on Friday at 05:30 local Turkish time at the airport in the city of Adana less than 72 hours after the formal request for help made by the Turkish government, one day after the arrival at the same airport of a cargo plane , chartered from Madrid by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), with the components of the START field hospital and everything necessary to start it up.
