AZ – Ajax will start next Sunday not at 4.45 pm but at 2.30 pm. The KNVB has ‘swapped’ the North Holland clash with Feyenoord – PSV. That game has been moved to the afternoon.
The change comes after a request from Feyenoord. The Rottedammers will play the return in the semifinal of the Conference League against Olympique Marseille on Thursday 5 May in France. In order to give players more rest between matches, the clubs have agreed with the KNVB that the program can be moved for that reason.
Furthermore, the agreement is that two top matches such as AZ – Ajax and Feyenoord – PSV may not be played at the same time, unless it is on the penultimate or last day of play. That is just not the case now.
AZ and Ajax met twice earlier this season. in the semifinals of the KNVB Cup, the team from Amsterdam proved too strong in Alkmaar with 2-0. AZ won 2-1 in the Johan Cruijff Arena.
