Combination of Bluetooth headphones and air filter
In large German cities, exposure to fine dust and noise can become a problem. The latest product from the technology group Dyson could remedy this. In a press release, the Singapore-based company introduced the “Zone”. These are over-ear headphones with Bluetooth technology and an integrated air filter. The product is scheduled to hit the market in the fall.
As Dyson emphasizes, the headphones are equipped with active noise cancellation and high-fidelity audio (high fidelity) and are designed to protect against car exhaust fumes, particulate matter, allergens and noise. According to the manufacturer, the research and development took more than a decade. Dyson is best known for its vacuum cleaners and air purifiers. The company has not yet manufactured any audio products.
Four different air purification modes
The heart of the Zone headphones is a two-stage air purification system that can filter exhaust gases and pollutants from the air. There are four different air purification modes available to the customer, which differ in terms of intensity and the degree of physical exertion. If physical exertion increases, more air is required. In auto mode, motion sensors determine the need for cleaning themselves and adjust the cleaning speeds accordingly.
Air filters sit in the ear cups
The filters sit above the ear cups in the headphones. From there, the air is sucked in and filtered. Two pumps then transfer it to the mouth and nose via the bracket, which does not touch the wearer’s face. According to the manufacturer, the filters must be replaced after one year.
As heise online reports, the scope of delivery should also include an attachment for an FFP2 mask. The attachment can be attached to the headband of the headphones. According to the manufacturer, the bracket can be lowered or completely removed if necessary. The bracket is connected to the headphones via magnets. The company has not yet announced the price for the Zone.
