The supervisory board of third division club Dynamo Dresden has made a surprising decision. Sports director Ralf Becker was on leave.
Dynamo Dresden has surprisingly parted ways with sports director Ralf Becker. As the supervisory board of the third division soccer team announced on Tuesday evening, the committee analyzed the overall sporting situation in several meetings and after intensive discussions with all those responsible at the club and unanimously made the decision to separate from the sports director with immediate effect.
“The long-term collaboration with Ralf Becker was characterized by great challenges as well as emotional ups and downs. It can now be stated that the necessary trust is missing that our ambitious club goals can be achieved together with Ralf Becker in the short and medium term,” said supervisory board chairman Jens Heinig.
Coach is allowed to continue for two more games on probation
Dynamo has been on a steady downward trend since the beginning of the year, losing five of eight games. The promotion place to the 2nd Bundesliga, which was already believed to be safe, has now been lost, Dynamo is in third place in the relegation zone. Therefore, it was expected that coach Markus beginning would take a leave of absence. But according to reports, he will be on probation for two more games on the sidelines. On Friday, Dynamo welcomes TSV 1860 Munich, a week later SSV Ulm, currently second in the table, visits Dresden.
Becker started working at Dynamo on July 1, 2020. Under his responsibility there was a rise, but there was also a decline in his CV. Becker’s tasks will be temporarily carried out by the Managing Director of Communications, David Fischer, who will be supported in close cooperation with the coaching team by the sporting advisor Ulf Kirsten and the Managing Director of Finance, Stephan Zimmermann.
“Before the next ten games in the 3rd league, a joint effort is required, which must be carried out communicatively and transparently within the club. The change we have initiated offers the opportunity to get back on the road to success with identification, hard work and leadership. Exactly this We want and must take advantage of this opportunity now,” said Heinig.
