Dybala-Roma, love at first sight: “Maybe I was Roman in another life”

La Joya holds a very deep bond with the Eternal City and its people. And remember the first time: “A dream come true”

Try to imagine Paulo Dybala as a centurion. Or maybe a senator inside the Roman Forum. This is not an image artificially generated by some particularly inspired Joya supporter or fan but, most likely, what the person concerned will have fantasized about at least once. This was revealed by Giallorossi number 22 during the “Champions of Made in Italy” format produced in collaboration with Ice, Lega Serie A and the Minister of Foreign Affairs: “Everything that has to do with the Roman Empire has always attracted the my attention, I don’t know why. Maybe I was Roman in another life. Rome is magical, when I was a child in Argentina I only saw Rome through films and my impression was that it was a huge city. The first day I arrived in Italy, I arrived in Rome. For me a dream come true.”

the day of the presentation

Also inevitable is a reference to the organized presentation of the Friedkin club at the Square Colosseum on the occasion of its presentation: “The square of the Square Colosseum is where it all began. My first day here was almost a surprise. It was amazing. The club had organized a huge event and a lot of people came, it was truly spectacular and obviously every time I come here I always think about that evening, because it was incredible”. There were over 10 thousand fans welcoming him: “It’s difficult to walk through Rome, if someone recognizes you they stop you and everyone does the same. At first they are ashamed or afraid but if someone has the courage to take a selfie everyone does it. Italy plays an important role in my life. I have lived here for over 10 years, all my adolescence up until today. I have always lived in Italy, in different cities but always in the same country where I met incredible people. It is a country that has taught me a lot. I have met people in the south and in the north and now in Rome. They treated me well from day one. I think the Italian in general is very similar to the Argentine. The fans are very similar. The passion for the club, the strong feelings, the love for the shirt. I watched often Roma matches. If you’re not inside it’s hard to know what it’s like to be here. The people here live and breathe for Rome. I am Argentine and I will always feel Argentine, but Italy is a second home and I hope it continues to be so for a long time to come.”
