Shownieuws presenter Dyantha Brooks gets a big slap on the fingers of a juice channel that she follows closely, namely Juice Channel. “You use our juice without mentioning us!”
Where an RTL Boulevard expert like Rob Goossens deals with it very relaxed, at Shownieuws they still do their best to give the juice channels as little credit as possible. They do take over the rumors that appear on those channels, but do not honestly say where those rumors come from.
Advertising column
It is unclear exactly what Shownieuws is trying to uphold – most people already see the program mainly as a disguised advertising column from John de Mol – but they themselves see themselves in any case as a high-quality journalistic product.
The show section of SBS 6 recently told in a NOS article about juice channels that they have a much more professional approach. “News is checked before it is delivered. Whether it comes from a juice channel, a social media post or any other medium.”
Juice channel angry
The juice channel Juice Channel is not impressed. They think that Shownieuws robs their juice, without it credits to give. “Okay Slow news. We probably hit you with our post from yesterday (a tease about cucumber time, ed.) since you are AGAIN taking off with our juice WITHOUT mentioning us.”
The channel after last night’s broadcast: “We were already informed that there would be an item about Rose Betram in the broadcast. But it’s just really shameless, because everything in the item comes straight from our stories.”
Dyantha gets punished
According to the channel, the Shownieuws item has been cleverly ‘cobbled together’. They just forgot to keep the correct chronology of Rose’s love timeline, the criticism reads. “If you’re going to steal something, do it right, you idiots.”
Dyantha Brooks, the presenter of the program, is reprimanded. “Dyantha, you hosted the broadcast tonight and I see you are following us. Then you have certainly also seen our stories from last week.”
Senior citizens
At such a moment, Dyantha simply has to intervene, says the channel. “If you had correctly pointed out to those elderly people at the desk tonight where these ‘rumours’ really came from, we would have found you a boss.”
Dyantha didn’t do that. And Juice Channel finds that quite a disappointment.
