Dwayne Johnson’s wax figure is said to have darker skin color

A Paris wax museum recently unveiled a new wax figure of Dwayne Johnson – it just didn’t look like the original. The main reason for the upset was the character’s inappropriately light skin tone, even though it was supposed to represent the actor, who has roots in Samoa. The Grévin Museum now reacted.

The general director Yves Delhommeau announced that the figure should be revised in a timely manner and only be exhibited again after the changes have been made. The lighting also had to be adjusted, as this is said to have contributed to the skin color appearing lighter than intended.

This is how Dwayne Johnson himself reacted to his new wax figure

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has responded by publicly announcing that his team will be contacting the Grévin Museum in Paris to make necessary improvements to his wax figure. These changes should primarily concern his skin color, as Johnson emphasized in an Instagram post with a smiling emoji. He also made a humorous remark about how he would enjoy a drink with his wax figure next time he was in Paris.

More about the wax figure and the incident

On Monday (October 16), the Grévin Museum in Paris unveiled the new wax figure of Dwayne Johnson. Although it shows the typically muscular physique, the tattoos and the shaved head of the actor and former professional wrestler, the wax figure still didn’t look exactly like him. People on the internet noticed this too: “Yuck! That’s not the skirt, maybe his stuntman lol,” reads a comment under the reveal post on the wax museum’s Instagram channel.
