Two dwarf rabbits were abandoned in front of the wildlife rescue service in Oranienburg-Wensickendorf on Friday. Also included: a note from the former owner.
When exactly the two hopplers were released, the sanctuary & wildlife rescue Notkleintiere e. V. not sure. Either late Thursday evening or early Friday morning, as the wildlife rescue announced on Instagram. What is certain is that it happened in the rain.
According to the wildlife rescue service, the unneutered rabbits were in two transport boxes on the side of the road. Inside, the employees also found a note explaining the reason for the suspension.
“I’m sorry I’m doing this. But I have to do it. I don’t want them to die. I don’t have the money because of unemployment,” said the handwritten note, which also featured a sad smiley face.
In your Instagram post the wildlife rescue service explained that the animal shelters also had no more capacity. It is now hoped that a nearby sanctuary will be able to take in the two mummlers and place them there.
