Dutchman arrested in Spain after finding 50 kilos of drugs in a car with a double bottom

A 55-year-old Dutchman was arrested on Thursday in the port of Ceuta, Spain after a double bottom and several hidden spaces were discovered in his car. After investigation, it turned out that almost 50 kilos of hashish were hidden there.

This is reported by the customs department of the Spanish tax authorities. A released photo of the haul shows numerous gray packages in which the drugs were wrapped.

The man was driving a car that was checked when he wanted to take a ferry from Ceuta, a Spanish enclave on the Moroccan coast, to Algeciras. The Guardia Civil, the Spanish police, was also involved in the inspection.

The Dutchman was shocked when a drug dog started barking near his vehicle. An extensive reconnaissance of his car was then carried out. The drugs were soon discovered.

Hidden compartments

There appeared to be several hidden compartments in the car, in which almost 50 kilos were hidden. The hash was mainly hidden in false bottoms in the rear bumper, an opening under the rear seat and the inside of the dashboard.

The driver, who was the only passenger, was subsequently arrested. He is still in custody on suspicion of a crime against public health.
