The Spanish police received a report on Thursday morning that three Dutch men in their twenties were standing on the edge of a balcony at MLL Palma Bay Club Resort, six kilometers from Palma de Mallorca. When officers arrived, the three men were still standing on the balcony. One of them was about to jump, the other two cheering him on.
According to eyewitnesses, the young people had already jumped to another balcony to steal a water pipe. The guests made the announcement. The police immediately took action: the young people were evicted from the hotel on Thursday. They risk a hefty fine of up to 60,000 euros.
Smashed to pieces
The Spanish island is cracking down on balcony jumpers, a phenomenon that is extremely dangerous and has regularly claimed lives. For example, in 2018 alone, six tourists were crushed when they did not end up in the pool but fell on the concrete.
The authorities fear that many more deaths will soon occur among overconfident young holidaymakers who jump into the pool from their balcony or ‘climb’ to the neighbours. Therefore, this idiotic action is severely punished; in addition to a fine, tourists are also put on a blacklist.

booze tourism
Dutch young people are more likely to make it abroad. For example, Dutch officers will help the police in Knokke in Belgium this summer to keep the teenagers in check. Things often go wrong in this seaside resort: fights and riots between intoxicated visitors are regular occurrences. Last year, 27-year-old Carlo Heuvelman was also kicked to death by a group of Dutch youths in Mallorca.
The extremely popular Spanish holiday island of Mallorca is now completely done with it. Earlier, the island announced that it wanted to end so-called booze tourism. Authorities closed the first bars and more are closing soon. The measures are mainly aimed at catering establishments that are popular with Germans and British. According to media, there has never been such a strict action.
