Dutch suspect of 15 years old arrested for attack in Antwerp | Abroad

Last night, the police arrested two Dutch suspects who may be involved in the attack against a house in the Van Lissumstraat in Deurne near Antwerp. One of the two is a fifteen-year-old boy. The adult has already been arrested by the investigating judge. Last Tuesday night, two Dutch suspects were also arrested who ‘came to chill in Antwerp’, exactly in Wilrijk where attacks were committed at the time.

The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office confirms to the Belgian newspaper HLN that two suspects were arrested last night after the attack on a house in the Van Lissumstraat.

Kristof Aerts: ,,Before the events last night, 2 men, one 24-year-old Dutchman and one minor were arrested. The adult was brought before the investigating judge and arrested on suspicion of destruction of a building by explosion, with suspicion of human presence at night, violation of the weapons law and criminal organization.”

The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office could not yet say how the 15-year-old boy will be prosecuted.

Also on Tuesday, two Dutch people were arrested after an attack was committed against the home of the El J family in the Klaproosstraat in Wilrijk. These people in their twenties were caught in their car. “We were just chilling,” they explained. They have also been provisionally arrested and are in prison.

Forty suspects arrested

At a municipal committee, Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever said at the beginning of October that the police had already arrested 21 suspects for drug attacks. Eight of them were caught by the Dutch police in Rotterdam, a few hours after the explosions in Antwerp. Even then, a fifteen-year-old was arrested in the company of adult suspects.

Some girls who claimed that they had been lured for a night out in Antwerp also ended up in prison in Antwerp. Attackers sometimes deliberately take girls or minors with them in order to attract less attention from the police.
