The Dutch skaters stayed off the podium in the second 500 meters of the World Cup competition in Obihiro, Japan. Janno Botman was the best Dutchman in seventh place. The victory went to the Japanese Wataru Morishige in 34.64.
Botman still had to ride the first 500 meters in the B group, but qualified for the top division with a third place. In the first stage on Sunday he achieved 35.08.
Hein Otterspeer, the best Dutchman on Friday with 34.89, now reached 35.09. He finished eighth. Merijn Scheperkamp also improved compared to Friday, but had a difficult second corner. He finished eleventh with 35.22.
Jordan Stolz came back strongly in the penultimate stage against the Japanese Yuma Murakami. The world champion was slightly faster with 34.94 and came third. In the last stage, Morishige and Tatsuya Shinhama, the winner of the first World Cup, showed that they were clearly the fastest. Shinhama came second with 34.69. Earlier in the day, Sebas Diniz and Kai Verbij already played in the B group. Diniz came seventh with 35.61. Near eighth with 35.65.
