Dutch Safety Board will publish a new report on tackling the corona crisis on Wednesday

The Dutch Safety Board (OVV) will publish the second report on tackling the corona crisis on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.

The council announced this on Twitter on Tuesday.

The second sub-report focuses on the period from September 2020 to July 2021. “This part examines the approach to the vaccination program and three measures introduced from this period: the mouth cap obligation, the closure of schools and the curfew,” according to the OVV.

Strong conclusions in the first report

The first report contained strong conclusions about the actions of the government during the first months of the pandemic. For example, the Council stated that at the start of the crisis too little attention was paid to the protection of frail elderly in nursing homes. A “silent disaster” took place in those institutions.

In addition, the cabinet and the Outbreak Management Team, which issued advice on how to tackle the pandemic, mainly focused on combating the virus in the early months. This was partly due to the role of RIVM boss Jaap van Dissel.

The Council advised the cabinet to also look at other information about the effects of measures. In any case, measures must be properly investigated, the OVV stated in the previous report, both before and after their introduction.

There will also be a third study, into the period after July 2021.
