Dutch people stuck abroad after ‘possible firearms find’ Eindhoven Airport | Inland

Transavia has announced that it has had to cancel two flights to Ibiza and the Polish Kraków. A spokeswoman for Transavia speaks of force majeure. “Unfortunately, our passengers have become the victims of this.” According to Transavia, this concerns 129 people in Krakow. It is not known how many people are involved in Ibiza.

An object “which resembled a firearm” was found in a passenger’s hand luggage at the airport, the military police said earlier on Thursday. At least ten departing flights were cancelled. Just before 6 p.m., Eindhoven Airport reported that the terminal is open again.

The airport asked passengers whose flights were canceled to go home and rebook online. Images showed that it was very busy at Eindhoven Airport and that there were also many passengers waiting outside.

A spokesman for the Marechaussee later said that there was no question of an imminent situation and that almost certainly no firearm had been found. The spokesman was not yet able to give a complete answer about this, because the investigation has not yet been completed.
