A Dutch girl drowned last weekend in a swimming pool of a campsite on the French west coast. The child’s hair became tangled in a water treatment plant.
According to French media, it is an eight-year-old girl. But a person involved informs NU.nl that she had just turned nine.
The accident happened in the municipality of Les Sables-d’Olonne. The girl was pulled from the water by a bystander and the lifeguard, but help was of no avail.
The French emergency services have sent a team of specialists by helicopter from Nantes 77 kilometers to the north, but they too were unable to resuscitate the child.
Justice in Les Sables-d’Olonne is investigating the cause of the accident, local media reported.
