Dutch family saves Croatian island from large forest fire | Inland

The family was sailing and anchored off the island on July 27. That evening a storm arose and Mladina was struck by lightning. The Dutch saw everything happen from the sailboat.

Father immediately called the emergency services, but as the fire grew worse, he left for the island with his son. They spent more than an hour on the island to control the fire and prevent it from turning into a massive forest fire, writes the local site Morski.

Lastovsko Nature Park writes on Facebook: “The moment he realized that his shoes were starting to fall apart, the firefighters arrived.” From the boat, mother Annemarie and her two daughters Zara and Lieve followed the situation, which they then reported to the police.
