Dutch celebrities join forces on Dam Square at protest for Ukraine | show

Among the thousands of demonstrators who gathered on Dam Square in Amsterdam on Sunday, there are also some celebrities. Claudia de Breij, Victoria Koblenko and Jeangu Macrooy, among others, can be found on the square, like the rest of the activists, to show their solidarity with Ukraine. The action started around 2 p.m.

Victoria Koblenko shares a photo on Instagram, in which she is together with a number of other protesters. She carries a sign that reads ‘Put in some love’. Also on Instragram, Koblenko, himself of Ukrainian descent, posted several photos and videos of the action on the Amsterdam square. Actress Georgina Verbaan is also in attendance and shares a video on Twitter with part of a speech being delivered.

Former Eurovision Song Contest participant Jeangu Macrooy shares a few videos on the spot via his Instagram. Last Friday, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that Russia has been banned from participating in the famous music competition this year because of the invasion of Ukraine. Broadcaster Jan Slagter is also there. “Nice turnout demonstration against war in Ukraine!” tweets the broadcasting director and presenter of Omroep MAX.

Writer and comedian Claudia de Breij shares the message on Instagram and Twitter: “If you don’t have a Ukrainian flag, an Albert Heijn bag with a Jumbo bag is also possible.” The flag of Ukraine is blue and yellow. Stylist Maik de Boer is also present and shares a photo of the action on his Instagram.
